CMPC acquires Voith tissue machine for Altamira, Mexico mill
CMPC Tissue, Latin America's second largest tissue paper manufacturer, acquired a 5.6-m-wide Voith Paper tissue machine for its Absormex subsidiary plant in Altamira, Mexico. The goal is to increase production capacity to meet the growing demand for its products in the Mexican market.
The design speed will be 2000 m/min, with a 220-t drying capacity per day. Start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2010.
Voith Paper will supply: the approach flow system; a MasterJet II T headbox; a Crescent former; the press and drying section with a Voith Paper Air Systems hood and a ribbed Yankee cylinder Voith will also supply the erection, start-up and commissioning services, and project engineering.
Voith Paper will also be responsible for the supply of the electrical and mechanical packages, including erection and commissioning of all the equipment necessary for the machine's operation, by means of the PLP (Process Line Package) concept.
Previously, Voith Paper installed its ATMOS technology at the CMPC Talagante mill in Chile. CMPC Tissue is the tissue business of the Chilean pulp and paper Empresas CMPC group. In 2008, the company's consolidated sales reached $US870 million. www.voithpaper.com.
